I ordered the 18" SS with the Octagon barrel and #1 Walnut !!! She is an AMAZING rifle well suited for the Alaskan wilderness !!!!!
Customer we service was superb. I had many questions all of which were answered timely and lead me to choose this Company over competitors... I look forward to ordering another when the opportunity arises!
The 500Gr Horniday round is a tack driver from this rifle!
Please tell everybody at Big Horn Armory thank you very much for my rifle. I can't wait until a water buffalo, rhino, lion, elephant comes rumbling down Pacific coast Highway in Los Angeles, or on Hollywood Blvd. so I can use my new toy!!!!! Thanks again...
I have to admit..... this rifle is worth every minute of wait. Thanks, Jeff L
Just picked it up. My first impression is how fine lined and finely finished it is for so much power . The fit of every part with its neighbor appears perfect. Pictures don’t do it justice. Just holding it gives a sense of how special your creation is and how fortunate I am to be able to own one. Frank
What an awesome lever action you folks build. I don't even like lever actions but had to have one. I absolutely adore shooting it. Everyone is very impressed that sees it also. A hot 350 grain handload worked beautifully on a destructive beaver a friend of mine Had. Can't wait to try it on a couple whitetails. I'm a diehard bolt action rifle shooter but this 500 has definitely grabbed my attention!!!! Great Job on it!!!!
Wow you folks sure made some jaws drop including mine!!!!!! She is a beauty, can't wait to shoot it into something besides mud (it's been raining here in NY for a week and was dark when I got home with it but I couldn't resist)! Tell the folks great job!!!
I was playing around looking for a rifle that shoots the same caliber of ammo as my pistols. Needless to say it is difficult at best to find a rifle that shoots either the .460 S&W Magnum or the 500 S&W Magnum. I found "Big Horn Armory" on the web. I am glad I did. I purchased two rifles the model 89 and model 90 plus one of the shotguns for my son. Got the shotgun first. My son absolutely loved it. It is beautiful and very well made. I got it within a couple of weeks. The rifles I was told could take up to a year. Some people I talked to it took almost 18 months. I waited just over at year for my Model 89. Let me just say it was worth the wait. It, in my opinion, is one of the finest made rifles I have ever seen. It is heavy but when you take into consideration a rifle that can and will bring down a bear or almost anything else in it's way, well it was worth the cost and the wait. I have not received the Model 90 as of yet. Having seen the workmanship that went into the my Model 89 I can but expect nothing less than the same quality from the Model 90. I know mine is still several months away but when I receive it I will own 2 of the finest quality lever action rifles made. These will both be a compliment and great partner to my Smith and Wesson pistols of the same caliber. All I can say, although not perfect, these are close enough. All I know is when I am in the woods hunting I could say this: "go ahead Bambi, make my day" . The one I have received is as far as guns go a beautiful, well made firearm. For those of you that have ordered and not received yours yet, patience. IT IS WORTH IT. For those that are on the fence, don't be. For a collectors item that will take down almost anything, it is worth it.
Finally got a chance to sight in the 500 S&W Mag. 110 yards can cover with a silver dollar. Love it. I guess some of the parts for the 460 should have come in the latter part of this month. Sh
Just picked up my new Model 89. The people at the Gun Store were very impressed.
I was as excited as a kid at Christmas. The gun is everything you claim and more.
I can not wait to shoot it!
I love my little model 89 500 Smith. I haven't killed any game with it yet but I have a fantastic time shooting it. Its a great handling rifle and an incredibly smooth action. The action is much smoother than either one of my 1895 Marlin 45-70s and feels as user friendly as my little 1892 Winchester 44 mag. It gives me about a 340 fps velocity gain over my 500 Smith pistol which is super cool because it hits like a sledge hammer but with a mild recoil.
Unfortunately the Army moved me from Alaska to Arizona however in another couple of years I will retire and plan on moving up to Montana. I plan on frequent walks in the woods with the little 89 and bringing home the meat with it.
I received the rifle today and it looks amazing. When I show this rifle to friends and fellow shooters I'll be sure to let them know the quality, timely service you provided. Thanks again to the whole crew at Big Horn Armory.
Picked up the carbine today and am very pleased! The fit and finished are outstanding and the walnut is beautiful! Haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet, but that's coming soon. My firearms dealer was visibly drooling over it.
Thank you so much for your patience, flexibility, and professionalism. And please pass along my thanks to your entire staff for enabling me to own such a fine example of a classic American firearm.
I just got mine today in curly maple a beautiful gun. So nice I ordered a second one.
Excellent customer service and the product is worth every penny spent and every second waited.
The S&W 500 rifle I got from them is amazing. They are very friendly and will answer any questions you have. I went to visit them and they let me test fire a rifle and told me all about it and even took me on a tour of the place and explained how they are built. Thank you so much for everything you done, and to get my 500 out to me way ahead of schedule. The rifle shoot fantastic and a joy to pull the trigger. Hunting elk with it now in the late season in Colorado and will let you know how it does.
Thank you Sid & Judy Lewis
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I just wanted to let you know, Leon received his #89 Carbine on Christmas Day. He is an 84 year old man acting like a kid on his first Christmas. He will be hog hunting with it very soon here in Florida & will let you know how it performs. Thanks again for your great service.

When the gun shop called and told me my Model 89 came in, I rushed down there and collected it. The guys were all jealous, and I got two offers to sell it at a profit. It is the most beautiful rifle I have ever seen. My day is made!
David M., Oregon
My wife's initial reaction upon seeing the rifle was to place here hand over her heart, gasp and utter, "its beautiful"! With a clarity like I never heard from her before, she looked at me and said, "you can never sell this gun".
Steven M., Texas
I can't tell you how pleased I am with my rifle! It is absolutely gorgeous. I will be a customer for life!
Terry L., Minnesota
The 89 is great---all I expected and well worth the wait. Thanks to you and all at Big Horn Armory for rewarding my patience.
Thanks for making my Easter the greatest. The wait was well worth it. The 89 is something that shows real American pride and I can truly say it is one of the best looking rifles I have. The walnut has the quality of only the best gun stocks, the workman ship of the rifle is top notch. You made me something I will be proud to show and use.
…and I love the gun. It's the finest lever gun made and it will be accompanying me on a brown bear goat and deer hunt on Kodiak island on the 18th of this month for 3 weeks.
Big Horn Armory is the designer and manufacturer of the Model 89. It is the first lever action gun specifically designed for the .500 S&W Magnum. The Model 89 and all of its components are proudly made in the USA.
